AYURVEDIC POSTPARTUM
DOULA SUPPORT
As your Ayurvedic postpartum doula I offer you in home care through tending to the new mother's body with nourishing food and tender touch.
I believe that in the early newborn days, Mothers need the most care, as she then cares for her baby. This comes from many traditional cultures beliefs of the first 40 days as the most sacred time for a new mother to heal, rest and transition into the role of Mother. This sets the Mother up for the next 40 years of her life, almost as if postpartum is the reset point for her future.
I offer this support by supplying you with nourishing, postpartum aligned foods to keep your body warm, supple and allow for deep healing. I also believe this is a time for a mother to receive. This support is catered to you and your family through the lens of sacredness and ceremony.
Through Ayurvedic practices the Mother heals with these modalities of pelvic steaming, moxibustion, belly binding, bosti and abhyanga warm oil bodywork with marma point focus.
Imagine yourself lovingly cared for and tended to during one of the most transformative times of your life.

FAQ
-
Do you accept payments plans?
-
Yes, although your payments need to be paid in full by the last visit as stated by our terms and agreements when you book with Moon Rise Ritual.
-
-
How will the food preparation arrive?
-
All food will be ready to eat, you can either keep in the fridge for a couple of days or you can freeze the meals to enjoy in the future.
-
The food will either come in glass containers (with a deposit for this service) or in compostable packaging.
-
-
Is Ayurvedic bodywork right for everyone?
-
We will assess where your body is at after birth and ensure you are receiving the correct care. For example, we will not yoni steam immediately after a cesarean section, but the Abhyanga body oiling will be beneficial right away, avoiding the sutures. You ultimately decide if you'd like to try the recommended body work the day of our visits.

-
What is moxibustion?
-
Burning dried mugwort over the navel, in the safety of a wooden box placed over the navel. This helps to bring warmth to the womb, support uterine healing, relieve pelvic stagnation.

What exactly is Abhyanga?
-
A warming oil massage to help counterbalance Vata energy from birth by bringing warmth, grounding and calmness into the body/mind.
-
Benefits include, nervous system regulations, improved circulation, promotes better sleep, emotional grounding and skin and tissue nourishment.
-
-
How does pelvic steaming support a postpartum Mother?
-
According to The Steamy Chick Institute, there are many health benefits of pelvis steaming in the immediate postpartum - see here.
-
Overall this practice helps the uterus heal and come back to original size, help expel lochia in a shorter amount of time, alleviate discomfort in postpartum and help to heal vulvar tissues.
-
-
Can my baby be with me during these sessions?
-
Yes, of course! You can decide where baby will be. Some women prefer to have the Abhyanga portion just for themselves, while others pause to breastfeed baby during the session and keep baby nearby.
